In a dramatic turn of events aboard a flight from Amman, Jordan, to London Luton Airport, a doctor returning from vacation sprang into action to assist in the birth of a baby girl mid-flight.

The remarkable incident unfolded on Saturday morning, about two hours into the journey, when the flight crew urgently requested medical assistance. Dr. Hassan Khan, a 28-year-old doctor from Basildon Hospital in Essex, found the expectant mother in labor on the cabin floor near the cockpit, with her waters already broken.

Thanks to Dr. Khan’s timely intervention, the woman successfully delivered a healthy daughter, marking a rare occurrence in commercial aviation. According to the flight attendants, this was only the 75th time a baby has been born on a commercial flight.

Following the unexpected delivery, the Wizz Air aircraft made an unscheduled stop at Brindisi Airport in southern Italy, allowing the mother and her newborn to receive further medical care at a local hospital.
