A tragic end came to light on Tuesday (Mar 12) for a Singaporean man, Chew Wei Fung, days after his car was involved in an accident that sent it tumbling 45 meters into a ravine in Penang. Initially reported missing on Mar 9, Chew’s ordeal drew to a close when his body was discovered in the vicinity of the crash site.
Emergency Response
Upon receiving a distress call at 1 pm, Penang’s Fire and Rescue Department swiftly mobilized teams from Jalan Perak and Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue Stations to the accident scene near Jalan Paya Terubong, a crucial artery on the island. Assistant Fire Superintendent Muzzamer Mohd Salleh indicated that the circumstances suggested Chew’s vehicle had met with an accident prior to its steep descent.
Mystery Surrounding the Victim’s Location
In a puzzling twist, Chew’s body was found not inside, but external to the wreckage, raising questions about whether he was ejected during the crash or managed to exit the vehicle post-accident. The discovery of his body, bearing extensive injuries, has since been handed over to police authorities for further investigation into this somber incident.
