Squid Game Star O Yeong-su Faces Conviction for Sexual Harassment

O Yeong-su, known for his role in Netflix’s “Squid Game,” has been convicted of sexual harassment. The South Korean court handed down a suspended sentence to the 79-year-old actor.

Sentence Details

The Suwon district court’s Seongnam branch imposed an eight-month prison term, suspended for two years, on O Yeong-su. Additionally, he’s mandated to complete 40 hours in a sexual violence treatment program.

The Accusations and Denial

O faced allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to 2017, which he has consistently denied. Despite his denial, the court found him guilty of inappropriate conduct towards a female actor.

Following the court’s decision, O Yeong-su expressed his intent to appeal, having a seven-day window to challenge the ruling.

Recognition Amidst Controversy

Despite the legal battles, O Yeong-su’s talent was recognized internationally when he secured a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in television for his performance in “Squid Game,” marking a significant milestone as the first South Korean to win in this category.
