The Islamic community in Singapore is set to observe Hari Raya Puasa on Wednesday, April 10, as confirmed by Singapore’s Mufti, Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir. This announcement follows the sighting of the Syawal crescent moon, marking the conclusion of Ramadan and the commencement of Hari Raya celebrations.

Crescent Sighting

The crescent moon’s appearance was noted on Tuesday evening, with astronomical calculations indicating its visibility for a duration of 32 minutes. “According to astronomical calculations, the crescent for the month of Syawal did appear during sunset today for 32 minutes,” stated Dr Nazirudin, affirming the onset of Syawal and Hari Raya Aidilfitri on the following day.

Celebration and Wishes

Following a 29-day Ramadan observance that began on March 12, Muslims in Singapore are preparing to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa. Dr Nazirudin extended his wishes to the Muslim community, saying, “I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Muslims in Singapore: ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.’ May God accept our deeds of worship during the month of Ramadan and grant us blessings and success as we celebrate Hari Raya.”
