In response to escalating tensions in the Middle East, Singapore Airlines (SIA) and its subsidiary budget carrier Scoot have ceased flying over Iranian airspace. This decision comes after Iran initiated direct attacks on Israeli territory on April 13, launching over 200 drones and missiles towards Tel Aviv.
Flight Path Adjustments
As reported by The Straits Times, both airlines have been employing alternative routes for their flights since 1pm Singapore time on the same day of the attacks. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of passengers and crew amidst the ongoing conflict.
Safety as a Priority
The SIA Group has expressed that the safety of its customers and staff remains their utmost concern. “We are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East, and we will adjust our flight paths as needed,” stated an SIA spokesperson. The airlines will continue to stay vigilant and responsive to any developments in the region.
