The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is currently investigating Emart24, a convenience store chain, following allegations of unpaid wages. The South Korean company has come under scrutiny after 15 former employees lodged claims for unpaid salaries with the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM).

Resolution Efforts

According to a joint statement released by TADM and MOM on Saturday, April 13, efforts are underway to resolve the disputes. “Five of the workers have successfully reached a settlement with Emart24, and the company has commenced repayment,” the statement noted. Mediation sessions are being organized for the remaining claimants to facilitate a resolution.

Support for Affected Workers

The statement also highlighted that workers needing employment assistance are being directed to the Employment and Employability Institute, which is associated with the labour union. This move is part of broader efforts to support employees affected by the alleged non-payment of wages.

The investigation into Emart24’s practices underscores the government’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring fair labor practices in Singapore.
