Fire in Yishun Condo Leads to Evacuation of 50 Residents

A significant fire incident occurred on May 28 in a Yishun condominium, leading to the evacuation of about 50 residents and hospitalization of one individual. The fire originated from a clothes dryer in an apartment’s service yard on the third floor of the building.

Response from Emergency Services

Upon arrival, firefighters from Yishun Fire Station and Ang Mo Kio Fire Station were met with black smoke billowing from the affected unit. Although the apartment was unoccupied at the time, firefighters had to force their way inside to tackle the blaze. The fire involved not only the dryer but also a washing machine, and was eventually extinguished using a water jet.

Evacuation and Medical Attention

As a precaution, approximately 50 residents from neighboring units were evacuated by the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). One resident was taken to Singapore General Hospital due to smoke inhalation. The quick response from emergency services helped prevent further injuries and contained the fire effectively.
