The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has secured two notable awards at Exercise Red Flag – Alaska, a significant air combat exercise hosted by the United States Air Force (USAF).
Awards and Recognition
The RSAF Peace Carvin V detachment was honored with the Top Fighter Generation Squadron award, while Captain Tan Yi received the Outstanding Mission Commander award. These achievements were announced by the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) on June 15.
Extensive Participation
The exercise, held from May 30 to June 14, saw the RSAF deploying 14 F-15SG and 10 F-16 fighter aircraft, along with more than 300 personnel from its Peace Carvin II and Peace Carvin V detachments. This large-scale participation underscored the RSAF’s commitment to high-level training and collaboration.
International Collaboration
Exercise Red Flag – Alaska featured over 90 aircraft, including the USAF’s F-16 and A-10, and the Indian Air Force’s Rafale. The event comprised a series of air combat and strike training missions set in a simulated combat environment, providing valuable experience for all participants.
Leadership Roles
Selected RSAF personnel assumed mission commander roles, leading operations that involved up to 50 aircraft per mission. This leadership demonstrated the RSAF’s capability and readiness in complex air combat scenarios, further solidifying their reputation on the international stage.
