The dredging boat involved in the recent collision at Pasir Panjang Terminal experienced a sudden loss of engine and steering control before it struck a bunker vessel, according to a joint statement released by Singapore agencies leading the oil spill cleanup on June 16.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred on June 14 and involved the Netherlands-flagged dredging boat, Vox Maxima, and the Singapore-flagged bunker vessel, Marine Honour. The unexpected malfunction of the dredger’s systems led to the collision.

Resulting Oil Spill

The collision caused a rupture in one of the oil tanks on Marine Honour, resulting in an oil spill into the surrounding sea. Cleanup operations are currently underway to mitigate the environmental impact and restore the affected area.
