Suspect Found with Firearms Near Coachella Rally
A 49-year-old man, Vem Miller, was arrested near a rally for former US President Donald Trump in Coachella, California, on Saturday after police discovered he was illegally carrying a shotgun and a loaded handgun. Miller was driving a black SUV when deputies stopped him at a security checkpoint, where they also found a high-capacity magazine in his vehicle.
Arrest and Release Without Incident
Miller was taken into custody without resistance by the Riverside County Sheriff’s office and charged with possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine. Despite the seriousness of the charges, he was released after being booked on two misdemeanor weapons charges. No federal charges have been filed at this time.
Secret Service Confirms No Danger to Trump
The US Secret Service confirmed that the incident did not pose any threat to Donald Trump, who was not impacted by the arrest. The rally and Trump’s protective operations proceeded without interruption.
