Edge, the well-known buffet restaurant located at Pan Pacific Hotel, has temporarily halted its operations following reports of food-related illnesses. The suspension comes after 16 diners reported symptoms of gastroenteritis after eating at the restaurant between May 2 and May 18.
Investigation and Response
The Ministry of Health along with the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) have initiated an investigation into six incidents linked to the restaurant. Fortunately, all affected individuals either sought outpatient treatment or chose to self-medicate, with no cases severe enough to require hospitalization.
Proactive Measures by Edge
Upon receiving initial complaints from diners, Edge took immediate action by conducting health screenings for its food handlers and implementing a thorough cleaning of its facilities. Despite these efforts, the continued reports of illness led to the SFA’s decision to suspend the restaurant’s operations from May 24 until further notice.
Mandatory Sanitation Efforts
As part of the suspension, Edge is required to undertake extensive cleaning and sanitization of its premises. This includes the equipment and utensils used in food preparation. Additionally, the restaurant must dispose of all ready-to-eat and perishable food items to prevent further health risks.
