A somber atmosphere envelops Changi Point Ferry Terminal as authorities confirm the recovery of a 57-year-old man’s body from the waters nearby. The discovery, made on the evening of February 10, concluded a painstaking search and rescue effort that spanned over a day.

The incident began unfolding around 4:15 pm on February 9, when the individual was reported missing in the vicinity of the ferry terminal, situated at 51 Lorong Bekukong. This location, known as a gateway to serene offshore islands such as Pulau Ubin, became the focal point of an extensive search operation.

In response to the emergency, a coordinated effort saw the deployment of a patrol craft from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and a marine rescue vessel operated by the Singapore Civil Defence Force. The teams worked tirelessly, scouring the waters in hopes of a positive outcome.

Despite their efforts, the search culminated in a grim discovery the following night when the man’s body was retrieved from the sea. Authorities have indicated that foul play is not suspected in this unfortunate incident.

The community and all involved in the search are left to mourn the loss and grapple with the tragic end to what began as a routine day at the Changi Point Ferry Terminal.
