Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore is set to embark on his first overseas trip since taking office, with scheduled visits to Brunei and Malaysia from June 11 to June 12. This trip marks a significant step in strengthening Singapore’s ties with its neighboring countries.

The Prime Minister’s journey will begin in Bandar Seri Begawan, following an invitation from Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The visit is expected to reinforce the bilateral relations between Singapore and Brunei, emphasizing their ongoing cooperation across various sectors.
Following his visit to Brunei, PM Wong will travel to Kuala Lumpur at the invitation of Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim. This leg of the trip highlights the close geographical and diplomatic ties between Singapore and Malaysia, focusing on mutual interests and regional stability.
Purpose of the Visit
The primary purpose of these visits is to introduce PM Wong to key leaders in Southeast Asia and reaffirm Singapore’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing relationships within the region.
