Cleanup efforts are currently in progress at Pasir Panjang Terminal after a collision between two vessels on June 14 led to an oil spill. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported that the incident occurred when the Netherlands-flagged dredging boat, Vox Maxima, collided with the stationary Singapore-flagged bunker vessel, Marine Honour.

Cause and Containment of Spill

The collision resulted in damage to a cargo tank on Marine Honour, causing oil to leak into the sea. The spill has since been contained, according to MPA’s statement. The incident occurred near a container vessel berthed at the terminal, raising concerns about potential environmental impacts.

No Injuries Reported

The incident took place around 2:20 PM on June 14, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Both vessels are now safely anchored, although there is some damage above the waterline, referring to the part of the hull that meets the surface of the water.

Cleanup and Safety Measures

Efforts to clean up the spilled oil are ongoing, as authorities work to mitigate any further environmental damage. MPA is overseeing the operations to ensure that the affected area is restored and that safety protocols are followed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
