In an ambitious move to meet housing demands, Singapore’s Housing and Development Board (HDB) is set to launch more than 4,000 BTO flats in February 2024, as part of the first of three sales exercises planned for the year. This initiative is aimed at providing a broader selection of homes to potential buyers, thereby increasing their chances of finding a suitable dwelling within their budget. The initiative also includes a significant increase in the number of Shorter Waiting Time (SWT) flats, with over 2,800 units set to be completed in less than three years. Furthermore, HDB is working towards ensuring that 75% of the new flats launched in 2024 will have waiting times of four years or less, marking a return to pre-pandemic project timelines and enhancing efficiency in housing provision.
