Certis Officer Faces Charges for Carrying Loaded Firearm in Bugis+ Mall

Heng Jun Hao, a 28-year-old auxiliary police officer with Certis, has been formally charged with unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm within the premises of Bugis+ shopping mall. The incident occurred over two days, from the evening of May 9 to the early hours of May 10, where he was found armed with a Taurus revolver loaded with five bullets on the fifth floor of the mall.

Circumstances of the Arrest

The situation escalated when Heng failed to return his revolver and the accompanying 10 bullets after his shift at Changi Airport. This breach of protocol triggered a significant response from the police, with more than 100 officers deployed to locate him. Fortunately, Heng was apprehended within just 2½ hours of the report being filed.

Following his arrest, Heng Jun Hao appeared in court on May 11, where it was decided that he would be remanded at the Complex Medical Centre in Changi Prison pending a medical examination. This step indicates that the authorities are taking every precaution to assess his mental and physical health, ensuring that the judicial process is handled with due consideration of all factors involved.
