Human Toll
Authorities have reported six individuals missing, presumed dead, following the collapse. Given the cold water temperatures and the time elapsed since the accident, hopes for finding survivors are diminishing. Two individuals were rescued from the scene; one required hospital treatment.
Investigation Underway
The Coast Guard and Maryland state police are spearheading an investigation into the disaster. Initial findings suggest the vessel, named Dali and destined for Sri Lanka, experienced a power outage before the collision. This critical failure prompted officials to halt bridge traffic, potentially averting further catastrophe. At this stage, there is no indication of criminal activity linked to the incident.
