Singapore households can anticipate a slight decrease in their utility bills for the April to June quarter as announced by SP Group and City Energy. This reduction is attributed to the lower energy costs experienced in the market.

Electricity Tariff Cut

The national grid operator, SP Group, has revealed a minor reduction in the electricity tariff by 0.3 per cent or 0.10 cent per kWh before the inclusion of Goods and Services Tax (GST). For average families residing in HDB four-room flats, this adjustment means a modest decrease of approximately S$0.33 (US$0.24) in their monthly electricity bill, pre-GST.

Gas Tariff Adjustment

In parallel, City Energy announced a slight decrease in the gas tariff, with a reduction of 0.03 cents per kWh. The new rate before GST will stand at 23.12 cents per kWh, down from the previous 23.15 cents per kWh, offering some respite to gas consumers in the upcoming quarter.

Economic Relief

This tariff reduction, albeit small, comes as a relief to many Singaporean households, contributing to slight savings in their utility expenses during the specified period.
