Singapore has seen a significant rise in vaping-related offences, with approximately 8,000 cases reported in 2023, marking a 40% increase from the previous year. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam highlighted this alarming trend, noting the growing number of purchase, use, and possession offences related to vaping products.

The upward trajectory in offences began in 2021, with 7,600 incidents, escalating to 5,600 in 2022, and reaching new heights in 2023. The majority of these cases involved the illegal purchase, use, and possession of vaping devices, reflecting a persistent challenge in curbing this prohibited activity.

In a notable enforcement effort, authorities confiscated a record 85,000 vaping products in a single warehouse raid in March 2023, underscoring the scale of the issue. Singapore’s stringent stance against vaping includes fines of up to S$2,000 for individuals caught using, possessing, or purchasing vapes, with even harsher penalties for those involved in their importation, distribution, or sale.
