A police officer was injured in a crossbow attack outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade, Serbia. The assailant, who authorities identified as Serbian, was subsequently shot and killed by the injured officer.
Attack Details
Interior Minister Ivica Dacic reported that the attacker struck the officer, Milos Jevremovic, in the neck with an arrow. The assailant had approached the small building, taken a crossbow from a bag, and fired at the officer.
Officer’s Condition
Officer Jevremovic underwent surgery and is now out of serious condition, according to authorities. His quick response to the attack ultimately led to the assailant’s death about half an hour later.
Assailant’s Background
Officials have described the attacker as a Muslim convert and have classified the incident as a “terrorist” attack. The motive and broader implications of the attack are currently under investigation.
