A 21-year-old man has been charged with causing the death of another man near the Singapore River. The accused allegedly shoved the victim, causing him to stumble, hit his head on some steps, fall into the river, and drown.
Details of the Incident and Charges
On July 2, Legha Pawan was formally charged with causing the death of Mr. Jasbir Singh, 33, by performing act. The incident, which occurred on June 30, prompted immediate action from local authorities.
Emergency Response and Discovery
Following a call received by the police on June 30, divers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team were deployed to search the waters. They discovered Mr. Singh, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrest and Investigation
After conducting investigations, the police identified and arrested Legha Pawan, an Indian national, on July 1. He is currently remanded at the Central Police Division, with the case set to be reviewed again on July 9.
