Istana to Host Open House on July 28 for National Day Celebrations

The Istana, the official residence and office of the President of Singapore, will hold an Open House on July 28, 2024, in celebration of National Day. This event will provide an opportunity for the public to explore the historic grounds and participate in a variety of activities.

Event Details

The Open House will run from 9 AM to 6 PM, and entry to the Istana grounds is free for Singapore citizens and permanent residents. Other visitors will need to pay a nominal entrance fee of S$2, while children aged 12 and below can enter for free​​​​.

Activities and Attractions

Live Performances and Activity Booths

For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, live performances and activity booths will make a return to the Istana Open House. Visitors can enjoy dance and band performances by student groups from local schools such as Ang Mo Kio Secondary School and Raffles Girls’ School. Additionally, there will be sports activities, traditional games, and balloon sculpting at the arts and craft zone​​.

Guided Tours

Visitors can join guided tours of the Istana Main Building from 9:30 AM to 4:15 PM, where they can view selected function rooms and a collection of state gifts presented to Singapore’s leaders. Self-guided tours are also available for those who prefer to explore at their own pace. Guided tours of the Istana’s enhanced Japanese Garden and Inclusive Garden will also be available from 10 AM to 4 PM​​.

Souvenirs and Food

Limited-edition Istana and President’s Challenge souvenirs will be available for purchase at merchandise booths, with proceeds going to charities supported by the President’s Challenge. There will also be food trucks on-site, offering a variety of snacks and refreshments​​.

Visitor Information

Visitors are advised to adhere to prevailing safe management measures and maintain good hygiene practices during the event. Smoking is prohibited on the Istana grounds, and activities such as cycling and rollerblading are not allowed​​.
