A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly biting a police officer who was trying to detain him. The incident occurred after the man failed to stop for a routine check along Java Road on July 24.
Charges and Court Date
The suspect is scheduled to be charged on Friday, July 26, with multiple offenses, including biting a police officer, dangerous driving, and driving without a license.
Dangerous Escape Attempt
The man was driving a van when he was stopped by police for checks. Instead of complying, he sped off in a dangerous manner, eventually stopping his van at the junction of Sims Way and Geylang Road. He then attempted to flee on foot.
Police Pursuit and Detainment
Police officers pursued the suspect and managed to catch up with him. During the struggle to detain him, the man bit one of the officers on the left forearm, causing a laceration.
Injuries and Medical Treatment
The injured officer, a 35-year-old, was taken to the hospital for treatment and later discharged with three days of medical leave.
