Six Injured After Suspected Gas Explosion Causes Partial Collapse of Shophouses on Syed Alwi Road

Six people were injured in the early hours of Tuesday, October 8, following a suspected gas explosion that caused two shophouses to partially collapse on Syed Alwi Road. Preliminary investigations suggest that a buildup of flammable gas at a restaurant located in the first unit led to the explosion and subsequent collapse.

SCDF Responds, No One Trapped Under Debris

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that no trapped individuals were found beneath the debris. Two search dogs and a drone were deployed to ensure thorough search operations. The SCDF also confirmed that no flammable gas readings were detected at the site after the incident.

Firefighters Rescue Occupant from Second Floor

One person was rescued from the second floor of the restaurant by firefighters after being unable to evacuate due to a blocked staircase. The individual was rescued using a ladder. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing as authorities work to secure the area.
