Tragic Incident at McNair Road

On October 11, a construction worker lost his life at a worksite on McNair Road after being hit by a precast concrete drain channel. The incident occurred while the concrete channel was being lifted by an excavator. The worker, a 38-year-old Bangladeshi national, was struck and fatally injured, with paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force pronouncing him dead at the scene.

Employer and Investigation

The site occupier and employer, Kay Lim Construction & Trading, is cooperating with authorities during the investigation. The Ministry of Manpower has already begun investigating the tragic event to determine the cause and any potential safety lapses.

Condolences and Support

In a statement released on the day of the incident, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. “Together with the building contractor, Kay Lim Construction & Trading Pte Ltd, we will render all the support and assistance needed to them in this difficult time,” said HDB.

Authorities continue their investigation to ensure workplace safety measures are upheld and to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
