This September, prepare to relive the magic of Michael Learns To Rock once again. The renowned Danish band is set to perform a charity concert at Our Tampines Hub on Sep 9, with the proceeds aimed at supporting those affected by dementia. This concert will mark their return to Singapore after their previous performance at The Star Theatre in October 2022.
The tickets for this one-night charity concert will be made available for purchase starting at 11am on Wednesday (Jul 12) through All Access Asia. The prices will range from S$68 to S$168. Each ticket sold will contribute to the cause, as all proceeds are set to be donated to the social service agency, Dementia Singapore. Further sweetening the deal, a 15 per cent discount is available for those who purchase their tickets by Jul 18.
The event aims to use the universal appeal of music to create awareness about dementia and its impact. Dementia Singapore’s Chief Executive, Jason Foo, highlighted in a press release that nostalgia can be a powerful tool in engaging and supporting persons living with dementia and their caregivers. “Good music is a great connector,” Foo stated, asserting the value of enlisting an internationally recognized act to help disseminate support messages for Singapore’s fast-growing community of individuals living with dementia.
Choosing Michael Learns To Rock as the act aligns with this objective, given that their music resonates with those in their 40s and 50s. Interestingly, this age group is witnessing a surge in young-onset dementia cases.
In addition to the concert, there will be a free pre-concert carnival from 10am to 3.30pm on Sep 9, open to members of Dementia Singapore’s CARA app. Non-members are welcome to join the festivities, either by downloading the CARA app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or by signing up at the carnival entrance. The carnival will feature food stalls and rides, providing a comprehensive day of fun and awareness for attendees.
