Singapore, November 2023 – The Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) 2023, a premier global event in the financial technology sector, is underway in the city-state, hosted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Amidst a backdrop of geopolitical tensions and a challenging global economic environment, the festival has attracted an impressive lineup of speakers, including Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, and Ravi Menon, Managing Director of MAS, to discuss the convergence of policy, finance, and technology.

This year’s event, the 8th edition of SFF, features participants from 134 countries, representing over 10,000 organizations, including central banks, major financial institutions, and fintech firms such as Ant Group and Coinbase. One of the highlights is the discussion on the future of finance, with focus areas including the application of AI, digital assets, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) technology and data, financial inclusion, and governance & risk. The festival is set to host 50 leading fintech founders in its Founders Peak section, showcasing the diverse and dynamic nature of the global fintech landscape.

Indian companies, including NPCI, SBI, Jocata, and ICICI Bank, are also participating, with SBI expected to launch new products at the festival. The SFF serves as a critical platform for dialogue on how future payment infrastructure will shape financial services, covering key themes such as payments, tokenization, and inclusion. The event will facilitate discussions on the role of insurance and pensions in financial inclusion, economic growth, and regulation.

Additionally, Ant Group Chairman Eric Jing will share insights on the journey of Ant Group, and Mairead McGuinness, Commissioner for Financial Services at the European Commission, will present the European approach to regulating digital assets. In a unique session, Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will interview Piyush Gupta, the chief of DBS Bank, providing an artistic perspective on the interplay of technology and finance.
