In a swift response to a series of complaints, police have arrested a 29-year-old woman for her alleged involvement in a scam selling Taylor Swift concert tickets, cheating fans out of over $24,000.
The scam came to light between March 3 and 7 when several individuals reported falling prey to fake listings on the Carousell online marketplace. These victims were led to believe they were purchasing tickets to the acclaimed pop star’s concert, only to be ghosted upon transferring payment via Pay Now or bank transfer.
Dedicated efforts by the Ang Mo Kio Police Division led to the swift identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect on March 11. Facing charges of cheating in court on March 12, the suspect risks a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine if convicted.
