Singapore passport holders will soon be able to travel to Timor-Leste without the need for a visa, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Thursday, June 27.
Agreement Signing
The visa waiver agreement was signed by Singapore’s Foreign Minister, Vivian Balakrishnan, and Timor-Leste’s Foreign Minister, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, during Freitas’ introductory visit to Singapore.
Current Visa Requirements
Currently, Singapore passport holders are required to obtain a tourist visa for short-term visits to Timor-Leste. This new agreement changes that requirement.
Details of the Visa Waiver
The mutual visa waiver applies to diplomatic, official, service, and ordinary passports. It allows Singapore passport holders to stay in Timor-Leste for up to 30 days without a visa, as stated by the MFA.
