Library@orchard to Undergo Major Two-Year Revamp

The popular library@orchard will be closing its doors for a two-year renovation starting on October 28, the National Library Board (NLB) announced on Friday, September 6. The revamp is part of NLB’s broader efforts to refresh library spaces and provide new experiences for visitors. The library is scheduled to reopen in the second half of 2026.

Focus on Interactive and Immersive Learning Spaces

Once the renovation is complete, library@orchard will feature technology-enabled interactive and immersive spaces designed to enhance learning and discovery. These new features will cater to a wide range of patrons, offering modern, engaging experiences that blend physical spaces with digital learning tools. This shift toward tech-enabled spaces reflects NLB’s commitment to keeping up with evolving trends in education and technology.

Introduction of a New Children’s Section

A key highlight of the revamped library@orchard will be the introduction of a dedicated children’s section. This new offering aims to create a welcoming space for young readers to explore, learn, and discover through interactive books, storytelling, and hands-on activities. The NLB hopes that the new children’s section will encourage a love of reading and foster creativity among younger patrons.

Looking Ahead to 2026

While library@orchard will be missed during its closure, the two-year transformation promises to deliver an innovative, modern space that offers much more than traditional library services. Visitors can look forward to an enhanced experience when the library reopens in 2026, combining the charm of a community hub with state-of-the-art features to support learning and exploration.
