Loss of a Rising Talent in Singapore’s Theatre Scene
Singaporean actor Shahid Nasheer has died at the age of 28 after complications arose from his leukaemia treatment. Shahid, a talented performer known for his work in theatre and film, passed away on Monday evening (Oct 14) at Gleneagles Hospital, as confirmed by Checkpoint Theatre, a company with which he had collaborated extensively.
A Flourishing Career Cut Short
Shahid’s career included notable performances in several theatre productions, where he left a lasting impact. He was also featured as a supporting actor in the Filipino film Elevator, which premiered in August 2023. His most prominent theatre work includes performances in Brown Boys Don’t Tell Jokes (2023) and Secondary: The Musical (2024), both produced by Checkpoint Theatre.
Checkpoint Theatre released a heartfelt tribute to Shahid, praising him as “the perfect collaborator in the rehearsal room,” and reflecting on the profound contributions he made to Singapore’s performing arts community.
