Comparative Analysis with Pre-Pandemic Levels
The recovery of Singapore’s tourism sector is further highlighted when comparing current visitor numbers with those from pre-pandemic years. From January to October 2023, arrivals from Indonesia reached 1.87 million, about 74.8% of the 2019 figure for the same period. Similarly, arrivals from mainland China accounted for approximately 36% of the 2019 figure. Other significant contributors included Malaysia, India, and Australia, with respective visitor numbers of 891,900, 887,270, and 884,260 for the first ten months of 2023.
This resurgence in tourism is a positive indicator for Singapore’s economy, showcasing the city-state’s appeal as a global travel destination post-pandemic.
