RSAF F-16 Makes Emergency Landing at Changi Airport Due to Malfunction

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) F-16 fighter jet was forced to execute an emergency landing at Changi Airport on Tuesday afternoon, Nov 14, following a sudden malfunction. The incident, which occurred shortly after midday, was promptly addressed by the RSAF and airport authorities.

Tyre Deflation Incident

Upon landing, it was discovered that the aircraft had a deflated tyre. This technical issue necessitated a temporary closure of Runway 3, as safety protocols were followed to ensure no further complications arose. Thankfully, the RSAF confirmed that no personnel were injured during this unexpected event.

Efficient Response and Minimal Disruptions

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) reported that the aircraft was successfully towed away by 1.20 pm, allowing Runway 3 to reopen shortly after at about 1.30 pm. Despite the temporary runway closure, the situation was handled efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations. No flights were diverted, although 74 flights faced delays, with an average wait time of less than 30 minutes.
