After a pause of four years, Car-Free Sunday is set to make a return on March 17, bringing a day of outdoor fun and activities to the Civic District and Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore. From 8am to 2pm, the event will transform selected streets into pedestrian-friendly zones, encouraging the public to engage in various recreational activities.
Event Highlights
The roads will be off-limits to vehicles from 8am to 11am, allowing attendees to enjoy walking, running, and cycling in a car-free environment. The event will feature unique activities such as inline skating and aeromodelling, set up at event spaces along St Andrew’s Road and Esplanade Drive. Additional attractions include an immersive installation, educational games, a mass piloxing workout, and a guided exploration of the Civic District Tree Trail. For those without their own bicycles, rentals will be available at the venue.
A Look Back
The previous Car-Free Sunday in 2019 saw an expansive 5.5km stretch from the Civic District to the CBD closed off for a weekend-long celebration. The event’s return this year marks a continuation of its aim to promote a healthier, more active lifestyle among city dwellers while providing a platform for community engagement.
Further details regarding road closures and the lineup of activities will be announced on the Car-Free Sunday 2024 official website as the event date approaches, ensuring participants are well-informed and ready to enjoy a day of fun and fitness.
