In a devastating incident early on Saturday, two Singaporean men lost their lives and four others sustained serious injuries when a container lorry collided with their motorcycle convoy on Malaysia’s North-South Expressway. The collision occurred near Yong Peng in Johor, marking a tragic end for the group’s journey from Singapore to Pagoh, Muar for sahur.
Batu Pahat District’s police chief reported the immediate fatalities of Mohamad Firman Nordin and Mohammad Shahfiq Irman, both 26, at the scene. The aftermath saw their bodies being transferred to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The accident happened as one motorcycle encountered a flat tire, prompting the group to stop in the emergency lane at the Yong Peng rest area. It was during this unexpected halt that the lorry, failing to maintain control, veered into the convoy with fatal consequences.
