Typhoon Yagi Causes Bridge Collapse in Vietnam

In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yagi, a busy bridge in northern Vietnam’s Phu Tho province collapsed, sending 10 cars and two scooters plunging into the Red River. The collapse of Phong Chau bridge has left at least 13 people missing, while rescue operations are underway.

Rescues Underway, 13 Still Missing

So far, three people have been rescued from the river following the collapse, but 13 individuals remain unaccounted for. Local authorities have yet to confirm whether there have been any fatalities. Military Deployed to Build Temporary Pontoon Bridge

In response to the collapse, which left part of the 375-meter bridge still standing, Vietnam’s military has been instructed to quickly construct a temporary pontoon bridge to restore transportation in the area. This will allow critical access to the region as rescue efforts and recovery operations continue.
